Pre-College Institute for Recruiting and Inclusion for STEM for MSIs (PRISM)
Southeast Regional EPDC Education Specialist, Dr. Vemitra White-Alexander, presented to 15 high school aged students that participated in Alabama A&M University’s Pre-College Institute. The Pre-College Institute for Recruiting and Inclusion for STEM for MSIs (PRISM) was a 3-week residential program that offered the students learning activities designed to increase their STEM efficacy and identity, improve college readiness skills, and expose them to STEM careers through authentic learning experiences in NASA Marshall laboratories. Dr. White-Alexander supported the program by leading the students through building a Mars Rover using the Engineering Design Process model. She also shared information about NASA internships and discussed career opportunities at NASA.
